What if you and I didn’t just choose GOALS for next year… you also chose THOUGHTS.
The thoughts we think about yourselves are the most empowering and driving element of our life?!
They reflect our perceived IDENTITY and who we believe we are.
Conscious or unconsciously we have thoughts fly through our brain every day and these drive our actions and results
If you have negative thoughts about yourself… it reflects a belief you hold about yourself. It also creates the results you have because your mind wants to create unity.
A thought you have and allow to persist will change your actions and create an outcome in your life.
As Tony Robbins says: “Your feelings about the quality of your life will be a reflection of the quality of your thoughts.” This means:
- If you often have negative thoughts and allow them to persist… you will have a negative feeling about your life.
- If you often have positive thoughts… you will have a positive feeling about your life.
This is because your inner self is observing these thoughts and evaluating decisions based on the thoughts you allow.
Very often these thoughts are accidental… formed out of a painful moment or inherited from family, pop culture or friends.
We usually don’t even notice our thoughts. In fact it feels they just “happen” to us and we can’t control them.
It also feels like they are “a part of us” – meaning we have this thought and it is real or our true belief. For example if I think “I must eat that ice cream…” I can easily take that thought as true.
But there is a deeper ability for our inner self to judge and CHOOSE the thoughts we allow to stay. We can also wrestle to make new and better thoughts.
Through repetition and focus we can re-write the thoughts we have.
For example consider:
- I want to loose weight – but I still look at myself as someone who isn’t health. It’s hard to make new choices with the same old thoughts lingering.
- I want to make more money – but I still think of myself as broke. It’s hard to notice investment opportunities and life changing relationships when you’re fixated on the discouragement of having no cash.
- I want a better relationship with my daughter – but I still think my way is the right way. It’s hard to notice what broke the relationship when you’re still seeing the problem the same way.
I need to hear this so Im saying it out loud. I hope it helps you too!
What could be possible if we let go of the bad thoughts and replaced them with ones that empower and propel us.
Our mindset creates our reality! If you’re thinking angry thoughts – most people will discern you are “off” even if they don’t know why. People feel it like the smell of our perfume or body odor! And our own body’s betray us – they reveal our intentions as our mind tries to align your actions with your thoughts and feelings.
This is why we must step into ownership of our thoughts and take back control.
If we don’t we risk creating goals that don’t happen because WE did not change. Or worse… we will create outcomes in our lives (accidentally) that we don’t actually want.
For new goals to be successful we must choose the new perspective we will have at an identity level. The thoughts we think about ourselves and our world shape our identity.
That includes deciding thoughts and identities:
- we will “shed”
- we will replace them with
Then we focus on living that out!
I’m choosing new and empowering thoughts about myself for the next year.
Who is the version of me that will accomplish the goals I’ve set? She must be a different person than the person who created the goals of last year.
Let’s make our impact intentional. Here’s where you start:
- Im writing them on post-it notes for my bathroom mirror and car…
- Im fixating and repeating them over and over…
- Im telling my friends and accountability partners…
- Im going to work on changing how I talk about myself to others.
What will you do to shift your identity so you can change your life and accomplish your goals?
What new thoughts do you need to focus on about yourself that can change… everything?
I want you and me to step into a NEW year and a NEW you – more aligned with your goals.
-💗 Emily
