Leading others starts with self awareness and mastery. Then it requires clear objectives. Lastly it requires the skills of relationship and communication.

Service Energy

Everyone can point out a moment they were either turned OFF or turned UP by an interaction with someone.

We instinctively feel our ick or joy, but we rarely stop to ask why? What was it that makes the difference?

I propose it was if you felt that person was looking out for you or not.

  • If someone wants to be a blessing, you can feel it in their energy.
  • If they are looking to take from you (even if it’s a subconscious selfish act and not intentional)… we feel it.

This is true in every relationship we have that matters to you…

  • Love and romance
  • Business development and sales
  • Team of employees and bosses
  • Family relationships with kids and aging parents
  • Friendships

Service energy is a mindset, and it’s simple to take action and start the shift:

1. Become aware of what the other person needs and wants.

(Crazy news, but this is half the battle! Just noticing!) An easy way to do this is by asking questions and listening. Curiosity is a tool!

2. Put in effort to help them get those things.

An easy example can be re-framing how you talk about things so you include them in the future plans.

It could be offering to help for an hour with something they care about.

This doesn’t mean “at the sacrifice of your own best interests.” And it doesn’t mean ignoring your own interests and needs.

Notice, I didn’t say “servant energy,” I said: “Service Energy”.

What could be possible for you and your organization of you embodied “Service Energy” in your communications in relationships that matter to you?
